Title : Coffee and Tea around Cairns

Did you know that we grow tea and coffee in our beautiful Far North Queensland region?

Ask us about our Billy Tea tours. In the mean time though:

A local’s survey undertaken by FNQ Apartments has revealed the following top five places for the most wonderful coffee/tea break experiences in Cairns.

Thala Beach Lodge for their Thala tea for two (not really in Cairns, more Port Douglas, but because it is my most favourite place in the entire world, I have snuck it in here).

  1. Muddy’s Playground, the Esplanade. I kid you not! Muddy’s is a favourite haunt either with or without kids. The coffee is real, fresh, hot and the view of Cairns Esplanade and Inlet, SUPERB.
  2. Coast Roast, Cairns Esplanade (opposite our fantastic lagoon). Central, happening and on the street, this is where you can watch Cairns pass by AND enjoy a decent coffee at the requested temperature (not everyone likes coffee temperature coffee you know).
  3. Coco Amor (Grafton St) for the taste of the coffee (delicious) and the mingling with the local corporate set. Not so great for families with small children or for people trying to lose weight. Their chocolates and pastries are DIVINE and are baked right there on site. Wander down the arcade a little and watch the chefs do this magic.
  4. The Botanic Gardens, Collins Ave, Edge Hill, for ambiance and a tropical garden experience. Great spot for everyone, families included. Relaxed and eco focused, drinking coffee or the range of blooming teas is oh so sophisticated surrounded by palms, orchids and extreme crotons.
  5. The Edge at Edge Hill (corner of Pease St and Collins Ave) for their Chai on soy. They mix their own chai and serve the tea in sexy little stone cups. If you’ve never tried soy or chai, this IS the place to start your love affair (genetically modified soy is NOT on their menu).

We live here and we love it.

Book with us for inside local information on accommodation, tours, activities and everything else holiday related.

Gee, because we are locals we can even tell you where your nearest Pharmacy (Chemist/Drug store) is.

Bang Espresso on Spence Street definitely belongs on this list! It's the coffee aficionado's local home: http://www.cairnsdining.com/venue_89840.

And for the tea lovers, just track down real Nucifora tea leaves, grown near Innisfail in the wet tropics.  Beautiful and available from Rusty's Markets.
